David De Gea Yet to Sign a New Manchester United Contract, Meanwhile Jorge Mendes Flying in for Talks Before Transfer Window Shut
The news is that David De Gea hasn’t put a sign on his new Manchester United contract. Even though the Spanish goalkeeper agreed to a six-year deal in principle last month but need to put the pen on the paper first.
His manager, Jorge Mendes visited Manchester this week to oversee the new £350.000-a-week contract. Man United is expecting his signature on the fresh terms, but everyone’s waiting for the green light of confirmation. After massive uncertainty over De Gea’s future last year, Man United are so ready to give their fans a massive boost ahead of the season by declaring De Gea’s commitment to the club.
There was interest from Paris Saint-Germain which were looking to pounce for the young goalkeeper to replace Gianluigi Buffon.
Man United was under real pressure because they faced the risk of losing their No. 1 for free next summer so they arranged a new deal. That means that De Gea will pick up a salary of £350.000 a week deal after rejecting the contract offers until the breakthrough was made over the summer.
Now he starts his ninth season at Old Trafford this week when he plays his first match against Chelsea.
